The water level is about to rise in Boone Lake. The Tennessee Valley Authority is reminding shoreline homeowners to secure or remove low-lying property.

The TVA will begin raising the lake October 19. It will go up two feet per week until mid-November.

Plans are for the level to remain at about 1,360 feet through mid-March. The TVA calls it the homestretch of returning the lake to normal.

For five years, the level has been kept low for a $200-million construction project to stop seepage in Boone Dam and build an underground cutoff wall to secure it.

The lake still won’t return to normal levels until spring 2022. The TVA will update residents at a virtual town hall on October 15.
