Driver taken to hospital following log truck rollover crash in Carter County

UPDATE: A man who was driving a log truck was taken to the hospital after he was involved in a rollover crash early Wednesday.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver failed to stay in his lane when trying to negotiate a curve, went into the northbound lane. The truck then rolled over onto its side, struck a traffic sign, mailbox and gate before coming to a final rest.

The driver was taken to Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

The driver was charged with failure to maintain lane of travel, according to the THP report.

A tractor trailer crash has closed U.S. 19E in Carter County.

According to Carter County Dispatch, a log truck flipped in the 6000 block of 19E around 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

That's in the Hampton area near Simmerly Creek Road.

All lanes in both directions are closed.

Officials say it will take several hours before lanes can be reopened this morning.

You are asked to avoid that area as that cleanup is underway.

We do not know if the truck driver is hurt at this time.
